CDC Bisexuality data
Facts I extracted from this:
- 12.5% of women ages 15-44 had ever had sex with a woman
- the percentage rose to 20% among women who had had 4 or more male sexual partners
- 4.6% of women 15-44 considered themselves lesbian or bisexual
- 16% described their sexual attraction as something other than “Only opposite sex”
- And all of these numbers are about 40% higher in women aged 20-24 (15.8%, not reported, 7.6%, and 22% respectively) – which goes a long way towards explaining why it was so much easier to hook up with girls in my early 20s.
Also all the percentages and demographics are way different for men:
- 5.2% of men ages 15-44 had ever had sex with a man
- the age group with the highest rate (8.1%) was 40-44
- the kind of sexual experience with the highest rate (7.5%) was men who had never had sex with a woman
- 2.8% of men 15-44 considered themselves gay or bisexual
- 6.1% described their sexual attraction as something other than “Only opposite sex”
Which I guess I kind of knew anecdotally, but it’s a pretty stark contrast
