People who make me cry three times get Tumblr Saviored

One more time and I unfollow.

I can’t decide if I’m being oversensitive or not curating my dashboard carefully enough.

And it’s always shit about being a bad queer woman.  Which, like, duh. This is not news to me.

"Elizabethan society was one of those which lacked the idea of a distinct homosexual minority, although homosexuality was nonetheless regarded with a readily expressed horror. In principle it was a crime which anyone was capable of, like murder or blasphemy."

—Queering the Renaissance, Jonathan Goldberg (Duke University Press, 1994)

It is so hard for me to wrap my brain around the historical idea of homosexuality (i.e. before the invention of sexual orientation). Though this pre-modern idea still has a lot of power, particularly among conservative Evangelical Christians

"I’ve seen you around downtown, he said. You always look so–
So tough, I hoped he’d say. So intimidating, so dangerous, so mean.
So lost, he said, kissing my neck."
— Rebecca Godfrey, The Torn Skirt (2001)

I was watching Elementary S03E10 last night, and I was really bothered by Gregson doing that police procedural thing where he tries to talk the suspect out of getting a lawyer.  The whole, things will go easier for you if you just cooperate, thing.  I mean, if that’s really true, then your lawyer will tell you that.

I like Elementary and I’ve watched a ton of CSI, Law and Order, Bones, all that pro-police/ pro-prosecution stuff.  And I’m just really sensitive to it now.

It’s also one of the things I don’t like about Sherlock.  Too many murder cases.  Too much working with the police. The best ACD stories are where a governess or music teacher or typist or clerk needs help.  Like, what if they modernized those stories?

Just found out that Alex Wightman, who I met in Paris 21 years ago, died.

Found out via FB, as one does these days.

I know it’s not all about me, but it’s still a little bit disturbing how many of the people I’ve slept with are dead.

His gmail chat name is still listed, and of course it’s orange for offline.

The 21st century is eerie and sad in whole new ways I haven’t even figured out yet.
