yikes! Was this the first time you straight-up told your mum that you can't do the emotional support? if so Good for you! Better to out and say it than pretend. Maybe she'll stop looking for it, if she knows it isn't there. (this reminds me a little of a pattern I used to be in with my stepmother, where she would tell me what I "have to do" in whatever situation, including parenting, and I finally stopped it by just saying, I'm not like you, that isn't going to happen. Never heard that BS again). Purging old clothes is SO FREEING, I need to do that again myself. I want my house to look different to my daughter the next time she visits.
