Fictional speed

Listening to the audiobook of William Gibson’s new book, The Peripheral.  Which is kind of blah.  But I love how in basically every book he’s got some new sci-fi form of speed.  Somehow amphetamine-like stimulants seem much more sci-fi  than opioids.  Even though they were invented in the 19th century, they still have this high tech aura.
